Big time kudos & thanks @NYLaughs for fantabulous stand up sets & NYC attitude!
Comedy may be dead in corporate venues but gritty truth and political jokes bloomed like an oasis in a dessert of censored content on Sunday.

My apologies to the each of the brilliant comics for the jokes that are mixed and mangled, very possibly incorrect attribution and organizers who did not have names on the signs but did a great production. Thanks also to host Shalewa Sharpe.
I was there to take pictures and was totally unprepared to have a wonderfully irreverent and honest belly laughing good time when slow death of comedy dates to Hillary’s emails. It was so satisfying, like a giant pitcher of water after running a marathon where you had scant sips along the way and knew you were thirsty but realized you are totally dehydrated once you had a chance to drink.
What an amazing collection of talent and what a shame none of the best lines make it to the MSM audiences. As my mia culpa for botched jokes folks can follow y’all and find your other appearances to fact check me directly. What a nice change for all the taboo topics to see sunlight again!
Dylan Adler had a few music interludes in addition to his comedy set and adapted the lyrics for a PG audience without losing the narrative. There was a fun riff on NY street smarts playing the health care system over COVID vaccines.
Caitlin Peluffo tapped into classic NYC dating experiences and the benefits of choosing partners who are helpful when it’s time to move again. We New Yorkers move a lot in search of the ever elusive apartment that’s fabulous and affordable!
Harrison Greenbaum joked about identity politics and being mistaken for being gay because his sense of style and preteen voice hit on stereotypes. He had a super funny string about how it impacts his fiancee.
David Aneglo confessed to being a millennial with hysterical spoofs on his generation with things that worry him like flying on a plane with a millennial pilot and their emotional support animal cancelling a flight for bad karma.
Jon Fisch took us through a relationship that started with a lockdown and progressed to a baby with sarcastic summary of being an older parent. Along with jikes about age he suggested we add an upper limit to the office of President now that we’ve seen Biden at age seventy.
Jay Jurden probably had the most politically incorrect riffs and some of my favorite lines though it was a tight competition. He joked about the lock-downs, the economic collapse and rising crime in NYC with the upside that a couple muggings per year is worth it when it saves $5,000 per year on the rent.
Again apologies to the talent for not remembering the best lines but the effect on the spirit was priceless. It reminds me why New Yorkers are my favorite people because whatever happens in the world folks here tell it like it is & sometimes with humor!
Mora shows are on the schedule and if this is any indication it’s well worth it to spend a few hours enjoying some New York raw with hundreds of your fellow NYers. Next is three nights August 26-27-28 at Lincoln Center 8pm sunset shows.
