London Wins For The Most Eventful Guy Fawkes Day
"Remember, remember the fifth of November" annual holiday of Anonymous celebrated with a global Million Mask March
Events vary widely and travel with time zones around the globe with street action.
It’s an odd blend of virtual and on the ground activity but as mostly online collective it’s the feet in the street part that’s odd. Whatever happens anywhere, the largest part of everyone’s experience over 24 hours, is everywhere else.
For me it’s a matter of checking today to find out what happened and see London went to chaos with zealot police. Ruptly caught the footage; they are amazing for being on the ground for more street action than anyone.
The first 20 minutes is drifting through London. From about 20 minutes rather calm, friendly rally with what sounds like no lockdown chants from another group.
By about 40 min there is a street performer breathing fire and some small fireworks launched straight up without incident. By the 50 minute mark the police are in the crowd and it gets insane from there on but 15 min was enough for me.
Serve and protect has left the ranks of police globally and official violence is all too common. Smart move by London police to invite the wrath of the collective.
Anonymous was likened to a hornet’s nest, a tag line Steven Colbert coined and now part of the legacy. Flashback to when Colbert was comedic genius and not a corporate tool. This is among his best and most purged from the Internet beginning in Obama’s second term. Finding a surviving YouTube with the full segment like a unicorn.
Happy Fawkes Day Anonymous. Yes it’s belated, c’est la me! <3
