May Day NYC Workers March
Many thousands put feet in street with themes of Solidarity ~ Protecting Human Rights ~ Rule of Law ~ Free Speech ~ Constitution & No War but Class War
There were two staging points with the main workers rally at Foley Square. The crowd was many thousands and police were at a bare minimum but NYPD had crowd fencing seperating the courts and sidewalks from the crowds.
The weather was great and energy was upbeat, despite quite a few signs hostile to Trump and Elon the broader theme was against billionaires curtailing our rights. Veterans for Peace are always a feature with their simple message and iconic flag.
While they were doing the speeches I popped down to the Free Palestine group gathered where Occupy Wall Street began. That’s Zucotti Park to most people but it will always be Liberty Park to old timers who remember an era before corporate names were on everything. Who remembers stadiums not named for TARP banks?
The ugly orange tower sculpture marks the spot. This group was set to join the others in the march and it’s a ten minute walk between them so I went back to Foley Square to get to the front of the march because pics from the rear is tough. The rest of the pictures are assorted sign and crowd headed to Broadway where I split off for home.
All these more pulled in a first sort are at a preview album on Flickr because Substack image download is vexing for some of my angels and the point is to share… full set probably Saturday.. enjoy and see you in the streets!! :~)
It was planned perfectly with the batch at Flickr before this was published and I forgot to add the link and editing without resending is not on my skill list so copy paste here it is, dang!!
