Thousands March Through Brooklyn to City Hall for Gaza Cease Fire ~ Free Palestine
Last update 3,500 marchers shut down the Brooklyn Bridge
Today was summer warm 80 degrees and crowds turned out in huge numbers for the march in opposition to Gaza occupation and current carpet bombing campaign. It began at the Brooklyn Museum the structure in the background.
One thing that always stands out for me is the NYPD crowd control prep especially after the fiasco at the US Capitol the numbers NYPD deploy for a march make the theoretical Jan 6 “insurrection” look more like a staged event.
This is what perimeter protection looks like. Uniforms standing shoulder to shoulder.
There were also NYPD on motorcycles, bicycles & teams on foot in addition to busses for potentially high numbers of arrest and easy transport to jail.
My coverage was limited to the first two miles since it was very hot with enough climbing and running to tire me out long before they reached the Brooklyn Bridge.
Aside from great shots the bridge adds to images and possible excitement of kettling and arrests the collection here captures the size and spirit of the crowd and signs. Some time tomorrow the full album will be on Flickr but for now the handful of friends who like instant updates this is a little something for starters.
Standing for peace, truth, justice in numbers large enough for corrupt politicians to notice makes a difference. Big time kudos and thanks to all who put feet in the streets to show the solidarity we need to pressure our “Public SERVANTS“ to follow our will.
It’s back to sorting pics.. Up the Rebels see you in the streets!! :~)
Yay!
Thanks, Pamela! Please let us know when the flicker album gets uploaded.
