So sad we missed each other. So glad you were there to take the good photos. If you frequented X or FB, you'd see my photo and brief commentary. "Massive NYC for Gaza National March Union Square to Washington Square, Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2024. Free Palestine. #labor4palestine" The march made some notable stops, ended by occupying Washginton Square Park renamed Palestine Square. An amazing turn out, but other than you, I haven't seen much coverage! That's why your work is so important in addition to its beauty.
So sorry to miss you kudos for you making a trek all the way to Washington Square Park.. if I had known that was the destination I would have taken a train down and waited for them but my old legs were pretty tired and when they turned south and called it a day! <3
In places where censorship forbid use of Palestinian flag the watermelon was adopted and has become synonymous with Palestine support.. good observation you nailed it!
Eh, cops in NYC only mind cameras when there is police violence but even when they are not keen on it the law in NYC lets us catch whatever we want as long as it's not a professional street shoot without a permit.... as far as crowd control in generals they are super restrained.. these folks deal w 1 million drunks on New Years and not phased by much in crowd control mode.. when NYPD plan violence the face shields are down!

Fabulous captures. What’s with the watermelon imagery? Is that because of the Palestinian flag colors? Do cops care if you take their photos?

Wow. Good to know! Keep safe out there on the streets. Thank you for bringing the protests to the rest of us.
